This special edition of Connaissance des Arts is dedicated to Max Ernst, artist currently presented in an exhibition at the Hotel de Caumont in Aix en Provence.
Never ceasing to renew himself, Ernst is a multifaceted artist, both Dadaist, romantic and surrealist. Defnitely free, inspired by love and nature, Ernst adhered to the ideas of Surrealism but remained an independent and autonomous member.
