  • What is 3D secure?

This system (also called Verified by Visa or Secure code) was invented to avoid CNP (Card No Present) type fraud, i.e. fraudulent payments by bank card without the actual presence of the card (credit card numbers). card stolen, for example). This authentication system helps enhance security when shopping online. At the time of payment, your bank verifies the identity of the cardholder before validating the transaction.

In practice, you will always enter your card number, expiration and cryptogram, but after entering this information, you will be redirected to your bank's site which will ask you for this additional information.

During a 3DSecure payment, when you are on your bank's website, the latter will ask you for information that only you are supposed to know, proving that you are the owner of the card. Each bank is free to choose its means of authentication (password, date of birth, code sent by SMS, etc.).
